In vitro follicle culture shows that progestagens are the maturation-inducing hormones (MIH) and possible regulators of the ovulation-mediating hormone PGE2 in female Eurasian perch Perca fluviatilis

In European aquaculture, Eurasian perch, Perca fluviatilis L., is perceived as one of the most highly valuable freshwater fish species and a strong candidate for development aquaculture. pursuit improving quality reproduction in this domesticated species, investigating hormones mediating final oocyte maturation (FOM) therefore indispensable. But, exact nature maturation-inducing hormone (MIH) perch unknown. To further validate existence activity behind potential hormonal candidates we vitro tested group nine hormones: cortisol (Co), 11-deoxycortisol (11-D), corticosterone (coS), 11-deoxycorticosterone (DOC), 17α,20βdihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one (DHP) 17α,20β,21 trihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one (THP), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), estradiol-17β (E2) testosterone (T), their ability to trigger FOM advancement production sex steroids potentially involved FOM. Using mature female two experiments were conducted with oocytes at start The follicles incubated 62 h Cortland media without human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). By end incubation, only DHP THP triggered full even low doses effect being vivo validated. However, de novo productions not shown be regulated by either MIH candidates. Progestagens are hence more credible than corticosteroids perch. Our study also revealed that both PGE2 strongly associated ovulation might have slightly contributed such activity.
